Big Kid

We have a big kid, and it is fascinating to behold.

Some developmental milestones:

• Sensing when it's time to use the potty and letting us know -- consistently successful potty "experiences"
• Many more full verses of songs "that's the way the money goes, pop, goes the weasel"
• More full sentences, like: "Come on, let's rock a bit, mama"
  
• More negotiation with parents (see previous bullet as one way to stretch the bedtime routine). Also got this one today, "I do it myself, Jenny Avahs."
  
• More silliness and testing of humor -- calling a bear a cow and laughing, initiating silly games with various objects around the house and saying "whoopsie," loving and saying punch lines like " you tell, em, buddy boy," or " but I don't" after various phrases and then laughing
• Making more connections -- e.g., always knew a stop sign was an octagon but now seeing octagons elsewhere, hearing a name of a friend and then learning it's not the same person and saying "different one" or checking to make sure she is clear on the subject being discussed, "LuLu mommy is Lola, right?"
• Becoming more particular about her clothes, her daily routines, which day she does what, etc.

It's thrilling to watch her come into her own. It has to be liberating for these little ones as they become more independent and communicative and start testing making their own choices. Although there are tough moments, we are really digging this 2 year old thing! Can't believe the 6th is around the corner. We look forward to celebrating with Nana and Papa. "They grows up and grows up."
